Al-Baqarah (The Cow) Verses 1 to 7

Al-Baqarah is the second chapter of the Noble Quran which translates as, “The Cow”. It is the longest

chapter of the Quran and contains 286 verses.

The first verse of many chapters in the Holy Quran begins with disjoint letters, such as Alif-Lãm-Mĩm. Their true interpretation is unknown to this day and is only known by Allah Almighty, our Creator, and Owner. However, these letters may be linked to the topics discussed in the chapters or used as poetic devices, as seen in ancient Arabic literature. Al-Baqarah also starts with three disjoined letters Alif-Lãm-Mĩm.

You may have gone through many books in your lifetime. You may have read written in every other book: "Please let us know of any errors so it may be improved in the next edition." Unlike other books, the Holy Quran affirms its accuracy from the beginning. In the second verse of Al-Baqarah, Allah Almighty declares that this book is free of any doubt and flaw. This means that the Quran is a divine revelation from the Lord of Worlds, Allah Almighty, who has perfect knowledge of everything. He sent this book to his servant and messenger, Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), to guide humanity toward the right path. The path of those truly blessed by Allah Almighty as mentioned earlier in Al-Fatiha (The Opener)

This affirmation enriches the faith of believers and invites non-believers to recognize the divine source of the Quran. It is a message from Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, guiding us towards the straight path, and we should take heed of its teachings. In the same verse, Allah Almighty tells about the most important quality to attain guidance from this unmatched book (Quran). It is a source of guidance for those who fear Allah. They perceive it as the ultimate source of definite guidelines in every sphere of life. It is the most important characteristic that saves them from going astray. They strongly believe that Allah is the final authority in everything and the only source of truth.

After affirming the Quran as the true guidance, Allah Almighty discusses the exceptional attributes of the believers. He asserts that true believers believe in the unseen (i.e., Allah, Judgment Day, Angels, and many more). They know that Allah is testing them by keeping many things secretive (i.e., beyond human comprehension). They establish prayer to remember Allah all the time and spend out of Allah’s provision to attain his pleasure. They are firm in their faith and ready to abandon anything for Allah. They love Allah more than anything else and are always thankful to Him for His blessings even in the worst circumstances. This extraordinary belief in Allah liberates them from grieving over insignificant and temporary issues of this world. They understand that success is not merely about achieving momentary worldly gains, but rather, it is ultimately about attaining the pleasure of Allah.

In the fourth verse, Allah put forward another requirement to seek guidance from the Quran. It is essential to believe that the Quran is Allah's final and complete revelation and that all the previous holy books are also the word of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Adopting this belief is fundamental to understanding the message of the Quran and living a righteous life according to Islam. In the same verse, Allah makes clear that believers hold a firm conviction in the hereafter, where they will be held accountable for their actions in this world. This belief inspires them to be purposeful and responsible, as they put all their effort into performing good deeds and avoid wrongdoing to earn a favorable Judgement from Allah. For them, the existence of an afterlife is not a matter of doubt, but rather a certainty that fortifies their faith and defines their worldview.

In the fifth verse, Allah makes a promise to the believers after discussing their exquisite traits. Allah assures that the people bearing these characteristics are truly enlightened by Allah and will surely be successful. They may face difficulties in this world but they will get the mightiest possible reward of everlasting Paradise from Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

In verses six and seven, Allah discusses that the people who have rejected the truths mentioned above are unable to get true guidance from the sacred and final book of Allah Almighty (The Holy Quran). It is the same for them if someone calls upon them to accept the truth or not, they will never believe. Because of their negligence and heedlessness towards Allah’s message, they cannot grasp the definite truth revealed by Allah Almighty to the last and final Messenger Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

It is considered one of the most important chapters in the Quran as it discusses many topics, including faith, rulings, ethics, stories of the past, and spirituality. In conclusion, it starts by examining the distinctive attributes of righteous believers and stubborn disbelievers. It then delves into several stories, parables, and poetic devices to emphasize the message of the Quran. The topics covered in Surah Al-Baqarah include the origination of humans, the story of Adam and Eve, the Israelites, the prophets, the Day of Judgement, and the importance of charity and prayer. As a whole, this chapter serves as a comprehensive guide for humanity, providing it with a deeper understanding of Islam and a path for leading a life according to the decree of Allah Almighty.

May Allah forgive all of our mistakes and guide us towards the straight path.

Ameen!

Al-Fatiha (The Opening)

Al-Fatiha is a prayer that serves as the opening chapter of the Holy Quran, which translates as "The Opening." It is a preface to the Quran and is considered the most significant chapter. It is an essential component of Islamic worship and is recited numerous times daily. By reciting Al-Fatiha, a person seeks Allah's guidance and mercy to lead them on the right path. Allah, in turn, responds to this request by presenting the whole Quran, which is the literal word of Allah, as a guide for the person to follow in their daily life. Thus, Al Fatiha represents a fundamental aspect of Islamic belief and serves as a reminder of the importance of seeking Allah's guidance in all aspects of life. The chapter consists of seven verses, and it is believed that the entire Quran is summarized in this chapter. Every chapter in the Holy Quran begins with the phrase "Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim," which translates as: "In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the E
